Эссе: Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school

Nowadays knowledge of foreign languages is valued among employers. Some people think that the best time to learn another language is childhood, but others are convinced that a person can do it at any age. I strongly believe that a child should be taught foreign languages from early age. To start with, children’s memory works incredibly effectively, so memorizing new words will not be difficult. Secondly, in the kindergartens and schools a person has a lot of free time, which he or she can spend on self-education. Finally, in this case, by the time children reach adulthood, they will be great at speaking a foreign language, which gives the opportunity of travelling and working on the best positions. However, others claim that the process of early language learning will not give any result. They say a kid is not interested in grammar or phonetics, he or she wants only communicate with the peers. What is more, children need first to focus on the important subjects such as mathematics, reading and writing. Nevertheless, I cannot agree with this opinion. There is a huge number of educational programs for children that combine communication with friends and game pauses. In addition, a kid does not need to spend a lot of time to study a language. 2-3 classes per week with a native speaker will be enough, so there will always be time for other subjects. To sum up, I want to say that although many people consider learning foreign languages useless for children, I’m sure it will be a great advantage for future personality development.
