Productivity as a generalized measure reflects the internal and external activities of the organization. On the one hand, productivity shows how effectively the organization works: how it uses resources (in the sense of economy); what is its management system; how appropriate is its organizational structure; what is the qualification of its employees and their motivation to work; what (advanced or outdated) technologies and methods of work it uses; how it organized interactions, including information, in the space of competition and much more.

To a certain extent, productivity determines the capabilities, potential of the organization and the costs of its activities.

Another component of productivity is the results of the organization's activities realized in the market in the form of sales of goods and services. The ratio of these values - potential and result-constitutes the conceptual concept of productivity.
