Эссе: Exams motivate students to study harder

Nowadays there are many exams in schools and other educational institutions. Some people think that exams can encourage students to study harder while others do not agree with them and say that students have to learn the material mechanically without motivation only to pass the exam.

I personally think that exams are a great motivator for every student. Firstly, successful passing of exams presupposes further study and, as a result, getting a good job. Secondly, students will be able to check up their studying skills, identify knowledge gaps and plan further work on the improvement. Moreover, pupils train their memory and attention that we all need throughout the life.

However, there are different points of view that exams do not motivate at all. Some people suppose that students have to spend most part of their free time preparing for exams and so they can have health problems. Also there are people who believe that a good mark for the exam is not the key to a brighter future.

Nevertheless, I cannot agree with them because students’ future life depends on the quality knowledge. Being a good student is being a good worker who can earn a good living.

In conclusion, I can say that exams play an important role in our life. As one proverb said, “The best fish swim near the bottom”. It means if we want to achieve the desired results, we must work hard. A good exam result is a good chance for a better life.
